TURN OUT YOUR LIGHTS THIS CHRISTMAS

“We don’t inherit the world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”
Many families around the world have the yearly tradition of decorating their front yards with hundreds, sometimes thousands of Christmas lights every December. This is a tradition we can no longer afford to keep up. If Christmas is a time for family and appreciating those you love, shouldn’t we then be thinking about the impact our actions in the present will have on future generations? Global warming is not going to go away quietly, and the time for action is now, not tomorrow, not next year. We need to change our ways TODAY.
Please abstain from lighting up your house this Christmas, or consider limiting your use of Christmas lights. Another great option is LED lights. LED lights use 95% less energy then traditional incandescent lights. For example, 100 incandescent lights lit for 12 hrs a day for 30 days will produce 250 - 300 pounds of co2, compared to the equivalent in LED lights, which will produce just 2 pounds. Also, LED lights, due to the lower power requirements, have much longer strings (easily 10 x the bulbs in one string), are far less likely to cause a fire, are nearly indestructible and last far longer.
We need to start making sacrifices now, so that our children can enjoy the world tomorrow.
EARTH - WE ONLY GET ONE
